Spiced Apple Cider

This time of year, apple cider is in ample supply at the stores. I love to make a hot spiced apple cider and will do so many times during the winter months. I make it a gallon at a time and that last me and my son T for a week.

Ingendients

  • 1 Gallon Apple Cider
  • 2-3 TBSP Mulling Spices
  • 1/2 Navel Orange
  • 1-2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • Spice Bag

Directions

Mulling Spices are available pre-mixed. You can make your own if you want, but why? They usually have all spice, cinnamon, star anise, orange peel. Some have lemon peel and coriander.

Fill the spice bag with the mulling spices.

Fill a 8-qt stock pot with the apple juice, mulling spice bad, and cinnamon sticks.

Squeeze the half naval orange into the apple juice and then put in pot.

Heat to a boil. And then turn off heat.

Enjoy. As it cools, you may need to reheat individual servings in the microwave.

Any left overs can be put in the refrigerator after it cools fully. Should be good for about a week (if it lasts that long).

You can also serve this cold, mixed with a ginger beer.
